---To find your greatness you have to start by accepting yourself JUST AS YOU ARE. It doesn’t matter if you think you’re the worst person imaginable, with so-called faults, flaws and foibles…you must ACCEPT yourself JUST AS YOU ARE. Even if for now we are just saying that…we can get started.
---We have to unlearn all the negative stuff that interferes with our enjoyment of life and living. Things are set up in a way that if a cut or contusion happens it will eventually heal (if NOT messed with in a way that interferes with the healing.) Our own UNLEARNING comes in the way of STOPPING the things that we do that get in the way of the healing. We have to UNLEARN those things we have LEARNED that interfere with our enjoyment (healing.) With the example of cuts, scrapes, bruises or contusions we have to learn not to repeat or UNLEARN the process that caused the cut (or whatever trauma it might be) in the first place. With ALL that being done…WE HEAL and experience all the joys that go along with it.
---This is the nature of the layer that we live in everyday. It is the same layer that can cover (mask) all the good stuff. The layer is the stuff we are use to. Most things happen here, (the good and bad,) because we relate to things from this angle. The greatness within has been blocked by this layer of ‘normal living,‘ that we do. We are blocked from these wonderful things through our negative response(s) to usual things. Over the years, these wonderful things have been called many things. Some of its’ names have been your Buddha Nature, the Christ Within, the Kingdom Within, taking your own responsibility, Your Beatific Self, the Divine, Krishna consciousness, the Chi, the Viriditas, the God, the Force, the LOVE. It really is a way of seeing things in a more alive manner. Things are not as dull and lifeless, anymore. The sparkle is now there all due to the fact that YOU have changed within.
---We don’t have a direct connection with these things, because we have learned so many ways to keep ourselves removed from THEM. As soon as we’re born, we learn ways to deal with a life that makes these wonderful thingsthe ideal and our usual existence a step down from this realm. Many spend much time in this layer…justifying it, etc., and in the process keep the illusion going. Unfortunately…we DO a pretty good job in keeping ourselves from the good stuff. We have even counterfeited it and call it by names that are really reserved for the good stuff. The REAL GOOD STUFF! Most of what we relate to in our usual life is just a bastardized version of what is really good.
---Being more vulnerable will get you there. Learning NOT to save face will work. Being more honest. Facing your embarrassments will get you there. There are many traps of the EGO that keep one from experiencing how good things can be. There are many naysayers to this approach, but truly if you face just one thing that embarrasses you; EVENTUALLY…probably not right away because old habits tend to be stubborn and stick around, but EVENTUALLY you will see the benefit of seeing and approaching things this way. This will NOT be a quick fix, if that is what you're looking for. When one finds himself in tune with the process...one will see and experience the benefits. How soon it happens will depend on how convinced and committed to its' value one is. But, when one is, it can be a continuous wave that is forever unfolding. Be Well!
---If anyone wants a kinder world in any respects it is up to us all to be kinder. Kindness begets kindness. It works the same way that ALL else does. The Golden Rule, if followed, guarantees it. If everyone is treated fairly, there is a good chance that he/she, in turn, will treat others fairly. ---The biggest mistake in this seems to be that we wait for the other to start the ball rolling. We seem to justify that behavior of waiting by calling it righteous indignation and play by the rules of an eye for an eye. As Gandhi tells us that through that behavior it will result in blindness for the whole world.
---Gandhi also told us that we should be the change that we wish to see in the world. Being KIND fills the bill. The Dalai Lama has told us that NOW is always the right time to be kind. It is difficult to go wrong with KINDNESS.
---Just be kind. Don’t wait for someone else to start it up. Bite-the-bullet, so to speak. Results will come back to you. Kindness is the cure-all that many seek. People usually AREN’T kind if they’ve received many bumps + bruises along the way. Many have been worn down. A good experiment to try is: exchange being kind each time you feel like being negative for one week. You’ll see immediate changes. If you stay true to this, the only negativity you experience will be from the residue that YOU had set in motion when you were negative. Eventually, ‘A KIND WORLD’ will come into focus. Be Well.
Dr. Wayne Dyer has been speaking about ''Living A Happy Life'' for many years. I remember I was told of his book ''Erroneous Zones'' from my brother Peter in 1976. I remember talking of WD in the late 1990's and mentioning that one was able to watch his development over the years. He is still going strong in 2016. He has been a joy to watch.
---To look a little closer at why both statements are true...we must see the importance of self-acceptance. We find this is one of the biggest stumbling blocks that we have. We must know and accept ourselves - AS WE ARE. If we don't do this, we find we are continually trying to know and accept ourselves. Until we do...everything that we do has us wonder if we are GOOD ENOUGH...in some sense?
[IMPORTANT: We don't wait until we think we are PERFECT to accept ourselves. ACCEPT YOURSELF w/ SO-CALLED FLAWS + ALL. Eventually we stop playing this game of wondering if we are perfect or not?]
---Our GIFT is exposed in the answer we give to the above question. If one knowsand accepts himself then...the above answer is YES. He will have NO trouble finding his gift. That will be who he is. If he is NOT convinced that it is okay to be himself, then he will answer the above question in the negative. He doesn't know or realize that HIS GIFT IS HIMSELF. It is IMPORTANT to know that EVERYONE REALIZES THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH!
---ONE finds that to ''give it away'' is this – to help others find who they are? PEOPLE ARE THEIR OWN GIFT! Everything that we need to know is contained within. We give it away in the sense that we help others find who they are...AND, KNOW THAT THE 'BEST' THEY CAN BE IS - TO BE THEMSELVES! You have given away the knowledge that YOUR GIFT IS YOURSELF.
THE PARADOX IS – YOU EITHER REALLY KNOW THIS or YOU DON'T!
---To summarize – if one fully knows that he is good enough...then he will have already 'accepted himself.' He will progress further. He will realize that MAN IS HIS OWN GIFT. By optimizing who he is (reaching his own potential OR actualizing who he is) he WILL know that he is on course. Otherwise, he won't. Be Well.
The irony of all this is - it either sounds like a jumble of words to you OR it doesn't.
---Did you ever LOVE someone who didn’t LOVE you back? Did you ever have a crush on someone who didn’t feel the same way about you? This is hardcore rejection as far as I can see AND you will, probably, spend some time in the dumper because of it. ---At those times it can feel like you were kicked in the pit of the stomach…and you can’t see anyway out. It is very difficult to do anything else. This consumes, basically, every bit of attention you can muster. You spend a lot of time on different ways that you should have handled things. You spend much time living in the ‘if…only’s.’ ---This is important to remember at those times. You WILL feel better, even, though, you CAN’T see it. It doesn’t seem like you will ever pullout of this one. As many of us know…that this won’t last forever. When you get back into the flow of things, everything will be better…EVENTUALLY! ---I’d like to say here that many of us are in that boat…we just aren’t aware of that fact. We have this thing called our potential, and if you are like many of us, you aren’t quite living up to it. You are unrequited in that sense. So, then you will probably say, if I don’t know what that is, it can’t hurt ME. ---I think there is restless part of ourselves that is well aware of how we’re doing in terms of our capabilities. As the old saying goes…you CAN’T fool mother nature. If you are fulfilling what your purpose is and doing what is on target for you, that is reflected in how you feel about what you’re doing. The questions that arise are not ‘what should I be doing?’ but, more like, ‘I wonder if this is the BEST way to do what I’m doing?’ You'll be fine tuning and tweaking INSTEAD of stuck on the major questions all-the-time. ---That is why I see self-acceptance to be so important. If everything that you do has the feel of I don’t feel I’m good enough to do it, everything that you do will reflect that. You will be asking that question ad nauseam - am I doing what I’m suppose to be doing? OR, better yet…am I suppose to be who I am? With self-acceptance…that question will have already been answered. The doubt that you will labor under without self-acceptance affects the quality of ALL you produce.Be Well.
